Fairhill Rise have been working on something really exciting in their Weaving and Dyeing Workshop!
Participants have been learning how to eco print on to fabric. The process starts by dipping the fabric in an iron solution, then arranging pressed leaves and flowers on to the fabric that has been gathered from around the site. Once everything was in place, the fabric was tightly rolled onto sticks and steamed. The natural tannins in the plants react with the iron, which reveal detailed prints of the leaves and flowers on the fabric.
Each piece is completely unique and has been a joint effort from all involved in the workshop.
