Our Schools

Whilst each of our schools offers unique learning opportunities, Ruskin Mill Trust has a core offer running through centre. The core offer is founded on our educational method that has been developed over 35 years of education, and serves to support and guide the learning journey of the individual.

All of our children and young people require, and are provided with, high levels of support throughout the school day and into the residential provision and surrounding community. Ruskin Mill Trust schools are highly specialised provisions offering bespoke placements and comprehensively trained teams of educators, carers and therapists. Each of our schools offers its pupils:

  • Embedded learning of functional skills (maths and English), science, history and geography, which are incorporated in the practical land and craft activities.

  • Access to curriculum areas that are listed in the Independent School Standards (in force from 2014). The curriculum is tailored to meet the needs of each pupil based on their Education Health and Care plan.

  • Support to spend the majority of their time at school outside the classroom, either in outdoor craft workshops or on the land.

  • Full-time supervised education in which they experience a curriculum that includes a range of linguistic, mathematical, scientific, technological, human, social, physical, aesthetic and creative aspects appropriate to their age, aptitude and stage of development.

  • Access to a range of therapies and support including speech and language, counselling, art, movement and rhythmic massage.

Living for our residential pupils is either in a team home on site or in the local community with no more than two other students.
