Our Schools
Welcome to Ruskin Mill Trust Garden Schools
Ruskin Mill Trust Garden Schools offer a unique educational experience rooted in the principles of Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE). Set within vibrant, biodynamic gardens and craft environments, our schools provide a nurturing space where children and young people with complex needs can grow, learn, and thrive.
Drawing on the insights of Rudolf Steiner, each Garden School is guided by the Trust’s Seven Fields of Practice, integrating land-based learning, traditional crafts, and therapeutic approaches to support holistic development. Pupils engage in meaningful activities—from cultivating vegetables and caring for animals to working with textiles, wood, metal, and clay—designed to awaken their potential and build resilience, independence, and a sense of belonging.
Our approach is deeply relational, rich in sensory experiences, and rooted in the rhythms of nature. By engaging students in meaningful relationships with the land, traditional crafts, and their learning community, Garden Schools support personal growth, skill development, and educational progress.
