The student council of Glasshouse College, Stourbridge, proudly completed their annual drive to donate to a local food bank, Giving Hands, showcasing the remarkable generosity of their community.
Building on this tradition, this is the fourth consecutive year the council has collected donations for the food bank, and, as always, they were incredibly grateful for the college’s support.
After gathering donations, the students sorted all items into categories, checked the dates to ensure they were within 3 months of the use-by date, and packed them into boxes, ready for donation the following week.
Student Councillor D said, “I liked sorting the donations.”
When the council delivered the donations to the church hall, families with children were already waiting for the food bank to open, and they were delighted to receive some of the festive treats donated.
In the near future, the council will arrange a collection of children’s clothing for donation to Giving Hands, as it is currently in high demand.
Student Councillor, A, said: ” It’s important to help those who are less fortunate who don’t have as much as we do. It made me feel warm and proud to know that we’ve helped people.”
The student council is proud of its efforts to support the local community and will continue to do so throughout the rest of the academic year.
