Freeman College in Sheffield is pleased to introduce the newest members of its vibrant market garden: a lively group of Saddleback pigs. Arriving at the beginning of March, the pigs have spent their first weeks settling comfortably into their new environment, quickly becoming a charming sight in the woods.
Biodynamic Land Manager Nicholas said:
“After many months of preparation, the new Saddleback pigs arrived at the Freeman Biodynamic Market Garden in Sheffield on 3 March. We very much welcome them to the site, as they will offer diversity to our students’ learning. They are now approximately 10 weeks old and, being Saddlebacks, are excellent foraging pigs. It is lovely to see them in their element and to witness the excitement and enthusiasm of our students and the staffing team alike. They are already a much-appreciated addition to the animal care side of the curriculum, and we hope they continue to settle well into their new home in the woods, out towards the North Peak of Sheffield.”
