Recently, staff at Freeman College (Sheffield) immersed themselves in the Holistic Practices in Nutrition course. Much like our own Ruskin Mill Trust curriculum, this hands-on program allows staff to rediscover the joys of positive food culture
Over two days, they learnt from research and training teams, and rolled up their sleeves for activities including:
- Making sourdough by hand
- The benefits of fermentation
- Making home-made pickles
- Eating ‘rainbow’ foods
- Creating warmth through homemaking
Open to all staff, the course focuses on health, the human microbiome, positive role modelling, overall wellbeing, and biodynamics. Reflective practice enables us to explore how the ‘seed to table’ curriculum benefits our students, shapes the therapeutic college environment, and supports homemaking in our residential care homes.
