The Hive is a social enterprise funded by the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership. It provides valuable work experience and training opportunities for students from Ruskin Mill Trust’s Argent College next door.

Argent College supports 16 to 25-year-olds with special educational needs, including those on the autistic spectrum, helping them learn a trade while building personal and social skills. Some students gain work experience at The Hive Café, boosting their confidence for future employment.

We’re proud to serve high-quality, healthy, and delicious dishes made with produce from our rooftop garden, making us an award-winning establishment.

This photo is the reception of the Hive social enterprise in Argent College. With grand tall ceilings, blue and white walls, with two John Ruskin quotes. As well as the stand/ stall of the Hive that houses students and makers crafts.
Pictured is a meal created by The Hive, dished on a beige plate the red colour of the beetroot pops. With a very light whipped goat’s cheese mixed with ricotta and aromatic cream. Fresh figs are then simply pickled in a cumin and anise vinegar/sugar solution. Walnut dukka is used for texture and balance. Basil oil, Pedro Ximénez vinegar and smoked salt for garnish. Rooftop nasturtium and cinnamon basil for freshness and colour.

The VisitEngland Quality Scheme celebrates excellence in tourism businesses of all kinds—from family-run guesthouses to world-class museums. They assess and rate businesses across 20 categories, awarding star ratings and the VisitEngland Quality Rose Marque to successful participants. Two weeks ago, they visited The Hive to review our food and hospitality.

The Hive earned a Taste Gold Accolade. To achieve gold, you need to score over 80%!

The Hive Café and Bakery is now listed on the AA-rated Trips website alongside Rosette and Michelin-starred establishments across the country.

“Winning another award from VisitEngland has made me and the team very proud. Scoring the highest Quality Assured result shows how hard we’ve worked over the years and highlights what we’re about and why we do what we do!”

Dom, The Hive Manager and Chef

“A very comfortable and relaxed environment with very friendly service from the team on this occasion and being very well suited to the target market.”
