Relationships, Health and Sex Education

The school RHSE Policy and Overview: Relationships and Sex Education

Relationships, Health and Sex Education (RHSE) involves lifelong learning about relationships, sex, sexuality, emotions, and sexual health. It supports the acquisition of information, the development of skills and the formation of positive beliefs, values and attitudes to sexual health and well-being. RHSE helps children and young people to move with confidence through puberty and adolescence and to manage their lives now and in the future.

RHSE at our school is individually planned to meet the needs of each child and young person. Planning and resources are shared with parents and carers and agreed by the Trustees of the school.

The schools uses a range of resources; including the land and animal curriculum, videos and lesson plans from different sources, for example Life Support Productions and Jigsaw to support the teaching of RHSE, matching the resources to the student age, need and understanding.

The education team work closely with the teachers and tutors, therapists, residential teams, parents and carers to support the planning and teaching of RHSE.
