Staff at Freeman College, Sheffield, attended the celebration day for the Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet (AIH), and it was fantastic to see so many people enjoying the sunshine.
A wide variety of crafters, heritage lovers, and skilled enthusiasts gathered to celebrate the reopening of AIH following its winter renovation. Freeman College was honoured to have been invited along to show off some of our skilled student work, which sits alongside the traditional heritage crafts of the area, such as blacksmithing, greenwood working, metalworking, and textiles. Seeing such enthusiasm from visitors of all ages made for a very special day indeed at a site that is so important to the area’s heritage and community.
Well done to the Sheffield Museums team for hosting such a valuable and enjoyable event. If you have, or know of, a young person with additional needs who is looking for a really creative and practical post-16 placement, in the North of England, please do get in touch with Freeman College to arrange a site visit.
