Transition
'Care, guidance and support are outstanding.' Ofsted 2010
Our dedicated transition teams work with parents and guardians, college staff, Connexions advisors and social workers to turn possibles into plans, and plans into futures. As preparing to leave can be a challenging time, students work closely with their transition team and in small groups throughout their final year to set up a plan of action according to realistic plans and wishes for the future.
Work experience accentuates and illuminates skills and interests students possibly did not expect, and may lead directly to jobs or self-employment and living arrangements are increasingly geared towards independence; for example students may spend up to a year without live-in supervision, residing in training flats, mentored by visiting Support Workers.
Around 60% of our graduates go on to work or further education: the figure for specialist residential colleges nationally is 40%.
